DARPA and Beyond
MaXentric has over a decade of experience in developing high-speed wireless communication systems for millimeter-wave radio frequencies, including V-, & E-band designs. Our revolutionary gigabit-per-second (Gbps) modem for high-speed wireless communications began as part of DARPA’s F6 Fractionated Satellite Architecture project, a collaborative effort which we joined under subcontract to Aeronix and FirstRF Corp in 2011.
Since 2013, we have been developing and testing Gigabit modems for mmWave-connected UAVs under the DARPA Mobile Hotspots Program. In one such Phase 2 effort led by L-3 Communication Systems, we are developing the software-defined modem hardware for high-bandwidth battlefield communications using Shadow UAVs. The team's fully-integrated E-band radio system is expected to deliver a clear-weather link range on the order of 60 km, enabling vastly enhanced ad-hoc communication capabilities in previously limited environments. MaXentric has also been the modem partner to FIRST RF for Phases 1 and 2 of the Mobile Hotspots Program.
