DSP/Software Engineering Intern
Location: San Diego (La Jolla), CA
Level: Bachelor’s (Seniors or Recent graduates) or Master’s Student
MaXentric Technologies LLC. designs wireless technology for high-performance markets. We are seeking a high-caliber DSP & Software Engineering Intern who loves solving challenging problems, takes ownership of their work, and thrives at the intersection of advanced signal processing and hardware integration. This role is designed for a student who wants to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom breakthroughs and robust, market-ready products.
Primary Responsibilities
In this role, you will support the design, implementation, and validation of advanced DSP algorithms and system-level control software. Your core focus may include:
Real-Time System Support: Assist in the design and evolution of DSP modules for wireless communications, specifically targeting FPGAs for real-time signal processing.
System Implementation: Help implement software control interfaces for DSP modules and FPGA components under the guidance of senior engineers.
Verification & Testing: Contribute to the development of design verification test (DVT) plans. You will perform diagnostics and debugging to ensure reliability across the digital processing chain.
Technical Skills & Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this internship, you should be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an EE or CS program (Senior or Graduate level) and demonstrate at least 2 of the following criteria:
Core SW Languages: Proficiency in MATLAB, C/C++, and Python.
Hardware Description: Basic experience or coursework in VHDL, Verilog, or HLS for FPGA applications.
Toolchain Familiarity: Exposure to Vivado, Vitis, or FreeRTOS.
Foundational Knowledge: A strong academic background in at least two of the following:
Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and filter design.
Control Systems and Communication Theory.
Wireless Communication Systems (e.g., Modulation, OFDM).
Professional Capabilities
Analytical Rigor: Ability to break down complex problems and approach them systematically.
Growth Mindset: A strong desire to learn "product hardening"—moving code from a fragile lab demonstration to a robust, real-world application.
Communication: Ability to clearly present technical findings and progress to the design team.
Collaboration: A team-player attitude with the energetic personality needed to tackle new ideas.
What Success Looks Like in This Internship
We would love to hear from you if:
You enjoy the "Lab to Life" journey: You find it rewarding to see a mathematical model turned into a functioning hardware prototype.
You are a budding System Architect: You are fascinated by how FPGAs and processors work together in heterogeneous systems.
You thrive in a fast-paced environment: You want to work on projects with real-world urgency and high-performance requirements.
Good Faith Pay Range: $20-30/hr
